Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making
Employ critical thinking and evidence-based problem solving skills in making decisions.
Having the ability to critically think, solve problems, and make a confident decision are three skills that a real estate developer must possess. From the small, day to day decisions to the macro level decisions, every decision influences the various stakeholders involved in a project.
The MLPD program has taught me the right questions to ask and who to ask them to. A real estate developer cannot not know everything but must know enough to realize when they need help and who to seek help from. Every class that is in the curriculum has taught me this critical skill. A prime example of this is a prompt given by my professor in LDEV 687. My group members and I were tasked with interpreting related documents, studies, and other information to ultimately give a recommendation to a developer weather to proceed with a development or to cut the losses and not continue. Ultimately, we recommended to not continue because of the intricacies of the deal. More information about the project can be found in the memorandum that was prepared.
